Animal Encounter Building

Located in the Northwestern Mutual Family Farm, this special educational presentation area allows children to get up-close with native species. The building includes bleachers, an outside animal presentation area, chick hatchery and animal enclosures with small yards where animals can be on outdoor exhibit in the spring, summer and fall. Here, visitors will meet and learn about a duck or a bat, or some other Wisconsin animal. Turtles, porcupines, snakes, opossums, groundhogs, even cats are part of the mix. Farm attendants give presentations about the animal, and then allow children, one at a time, to pet the animal.
Remember when visiting this area, please wash your hands after petting any of the animals.
The Northwestern Mutual Family Farm is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily; animal presentations and the Goat Yard are open Memorial Day though Labor Day.
