Milwaukee County Zoo
Flex Pricing for Zoo Admission

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is Flex Pricing?

The Milwaukee County Zoo is implementing Flex Pricing starting April 1, 2022. Flex Pricing is a pricing structure that provides guests with more options to accommodate both their budget and their schedule. Prices will vary throughout the year based on the Zoo’s seasonal attendance. In general, for busier periods with higher estimated attendance, prices will reflect the higher demand. For quieter attendance days, prices may be lower. With this pricing structure, the Milwaukee County Zoo will become more accessible to many audiences and continue to serve as an environment for personal renewal and enjoyment.

How does Flex Pricing work?

General admission tickets can be purchased here. Tickets are currently available for purchase through the end of 2022. Guests are encouraged to explore the calendar to find a day that fits both their schedule and their budget. Click the date of your visit to purchase tickets for that date. Prices for the upcoming week (Friday – Thursday) will be updated every Thursday at 3:00 pm CST. Flex Pricing will not vary by the hour, change daily, or be impacted by other factors. The prices do not change based on when guests purchase tickets – purchasing early does not always yield a discount, but it does offer the best choice of dates and times for your visit.

Why do prices change?

Flex Pricing means that different days have different prices based on several factors, including demand, weather, seasonality, day-of-week, holidays, local events, and attendance patterns. In general, for busier periods with higher estimated attendance, prices will reflect the higher demand. For quieter attendance days, prices may be lower. This new ticketing model will give guests the flexibility to plan a visit on a day that best accommodates their budget and schedule. Guests who have flexibility in planning when to visit, can choose a date and possibly save. This allows us to offer more balanced attendance and help provide a consistent, positive guest experience.

How is the cost of admission determined?

Flex Pricing is the result of more than a year of research and collaboration with other Zoos and Aquariums. Ticket prices are determined based on several factors including demand, weather, seasonality, day-of-week, holidays, local events, and attendance patterns. General admission ticket prices will range from:

April 1 through October 31, 2022
Adults: $13.75 - $19.75
Child (3 to 12): $10.75 - $16.75
Senior Citizen (60+): $12.75 - $18.75
Infant (2 and under): Free

November 1 through December 31, 2022
Adults: $12.75 - $14.25
Child (3 to 12): $9.75 - $11.25
Senior Citizen (60+): $11.75 - $13.25
Infant (2 and under): Free

Milwaukee County residents with I.D. receive $1.75 off full price paid admission every day except Wednesday. On Wednesdays, Milwaukee County residents are admitted at a reduced rate of $10.50 for adults and $8.00 for children (age 3 to 12).

It is important to note that Flex Pricing does not represent an across-the-board price increase for Zoo guests. The Flex Pricing model allows for flexibility to adjust admission prices to account for seasonal traffic while also ensuring we remain affordable and accessible to everyone.

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?

Guests may purchase tickets at our Admission gates, but the day’s prices will be their highest on the day of the visit – online admission tickets may be less expensive than at the Admission gates. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance on our website.

How can I save the most money on admission tickets?

Purchasing early does not always yield a discount, but it does offer the best choice of dates and times for your visit. We recommend purchasing admission tickets in advance online to save money rather than purchasing upon arrival at the Admission gates. In general, for busier periods with higher estimated attendance, prices will reflect the higher demand.

How long is my ticket valid?

Your ticket is only valid for the date printed on the ticket. When purchasing your tickets, please select your dates carefully – tickets are nonrefundable.

What if I purchased my ticket online in advance and now cannot visit? Can I reschedule? Can I get a refund?

When purchasing your tickets, please select your dates carefully – tickets are nonrefundable. We may be able to assist with rescheduling your visit, but availability is not guaranteed. If your new date is more expensive than your original ticket, you will be required to pay the difference. Please email zoo.tickets@milwaukeecountywi.gov for assistance.

Can I apply my admission tickets to a Zoo membership?

Yes! You can apply your admission ticket toward the price of your membership. To do so, please visit the Membership desk located in the U.S. Bank Gathering Place.

Can I use my AZA Reciprocal Zoo discount from another accredited Zoo?

Reciprocity tickets may only be purchased on the day of your visit and at the Milwaukee County Zoo Admission gates. Online reciprocal ticket sale discounts are not available. For a complete list of participating reciprocal zoos please visit zoosociety.org/reciprocal.

Does Flex Pricing apply to Special Events and Group Sales reservations?

Flex Pricing may apply to 2022 Special Events and can be found here when available for purchase. Follow the Milwaukee County Zoo on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to stay up to date on the latest Special Event information. Group Sales reservations have set pricing and are not affected by Flex Pricing.
