U.S BANK GATHERING PLACE

OPENING MAY 2008

 

Upon entering the Zoo, you’ll notice our front entrance mall is now under renovation.  This construction project is to make way for a new Zoo mall, the U.S. Bank Gathering Place, slated to open in May 2008.

The U.S. Bank Gathering Place will feature:  a visitor-friendly atmosphere, complete with a light-filled pedestrian atrium entrance to the Zoo, scenic horticultural designs, an expanded restaurant, a gift shop, an upscale coffee shop and snack bar, new restrooms, a Zoo/Zoological Society information area and a display pertaining to the Zoological Society’s conservation education programs.

ZOO VISITOR ENTRANCE

Zoo visitors may enter from the following locations:

  1. The sidewalk bordering the north side of the Karen Peck Katz Conservation Education Center
  2. The Zoo Terrace gate when this facility rental area is not in use
  3. The south side of the Zoo Administration Building, through the gate behind the Zoo Terrace Stage

Note:  This path is the primary entrance for clients using the Peck Welcome Center

INFORMATION BOOTH

The Information Booth has been relocated from the entrance mall to the area near the first aid station.  It is staffed by the Zoo’s Visitor Services department, and provides the following services:

  1. Directions
  2. Refunds
  3. Same day lost and found
  4. Stroller and wheelchair rentals

ADMINISTRATION OFFICE

Visitors needing to access the Administration Office can enter through the door behind the Ice Cream Palace, and proceed through the hallway to the reception desk (directional signs mark the hallway). 

ZOO RESTAURANT AND GIFT SHOPS

The Flamingo Gift Shop and Flamingo Café will remain open and accessible from the west side of their respective buildings until January 2008.  Visit the Karibu Gift Shop (located next to the Administration Office), which will remain open.  Visit Lakeview Place restaurant; open daily 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Dairy Store in the Family Farm, open weather permitting.
