Straw-Colored Fruit Bat Born
June, 2004

Visit our newest straw-colored fruit bat born approximately 3 weeks ago, now on exhibit in the Small Mammal Building. Straw-colored fruit bats are found primarily in the wild areas of Africa. The male straw-colored fruit bats are distinguished by an orange collar on the underside of their necks. This type of bat flies in a strong and direct manner due to the
shape of its wings which are long and have a tapered, pointed tip.
