Visiting exhibits at the Zoo often makes you feel like you’re traveling around the world, but the fare from the Milwaukee County Zoo’s newest food stand, Wild Burger, grounds you in the Midwest. Wild Burger serves up five different types of specialty burgers and hot dogs, along with fountain soda, custard, and other snacks.
The Zoo’s concession, merchandise and catering partner, Service System Associates (SSA), customized Wild Burger’s menu to include food that screams Milwaukee; each burger comes topped with a special cheese sauce and the Cedar Crest frozen custard is made locally.
Wild Burger, formerly known as Woodland Retreat, is located near the Small Mammals building on the west end of the Zoo. Its former name is kept alive in the name of the frozen custard, Woody’s Custard.
Besides the specialty burgers and hot dogs, visitors can still purchase the classic cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries, pretzels, ICEEs, and beer.
Wild Burger is now open to Zoo visitors every day weather permitting through Labor Day. Stop by and give it a try during your next visit!
