“Make new friends with these gentle giants”

Join us during a la Carte only, a 30-minute Wild Connections tour that takes you behind the scenes into the homes of some of the Zoo’s largest animals! Starting at the rhinoceros barn, you’ll see how we care for our rhinos, and learn about protecting these amazing species.  Then, you’ll head over to the MillerCoors Giraffe Experience kitchen to see our remarkable reticulated giraffes nose-to-nose and help us feed them a lunchtime snack.  You’ll be amazed to discover how tall but graceful giraffes are up-close!

RESTRICTIONS

  • Due to safety regulations, guests will not receive direct contact with the giraffes, but will have the opportunity to feed them and most likely get drooled on!
  • This Connection is best for guests 5 years of age and older.
  • This experience can accommodate up to 6 guests; smaller groups will be combined.
  • Program fee does not include admission to the Milwaukee County Zoo – admission tickets must be purchased separately. (Admission price to a la Carte is the same as regular Zoo admission.)
  • Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a paid participant that is 15 years of age or older.
  • A ticket is required for all adults and children in the tour.
  • This Connection will occur rain or shine.
  • You must check-in at the Zoo’s Administration office 10 minutes prior to the start time of your adventure. The exclusive nature of this experience makes joining the group late not possible.
  • Due to the nature of this experience, we are not able to accommodate service animals on this Connection.
  • This tour is not ADA accessible.

  • Rhinoceros barn hallway tour: see how heavy the swing gates are, and the food the rhinos eat. You’ll also get the opportunity to peek at the rhinos on exhibit through the door peepholes (guests will not have contact with rhinos or see them up-close).
  • See the behind-the-scenes giraffe kitchen area, feed the giraffes, and see them up-close (this vantage point is closer than the normal public feeding opportunity).

“No tuxedos required”

Shake your tail feathers and waddle on over to the Milwaukee County Zoo to experience this fishy 30-minute Wild Connections tour. Starting at the Herb and Nada Mahler Family Aviary, home of our cold-loving rockhopper and Gentoo penguins, you’ll be introduced to all of the unique adaptations that make penguins so special. From there, a penguin zookeeper will lead you over to the Taylor Family Humboldt Penguin Exhibit to meet and feed Houdini, Anchovy, and the rest of the colony as they “fly” through the water for their special treats!
