Frightfully Fun Mold-A-Ramas Debut for Halloween Season at the Zoo

A Zoo staple since 1980, Mold-A-Rama debuts four seasonal Halloween molds and one permanent mold. Get ready to grow your collection…you’ll want them all!

In the dark of night, your face is illuminated by the light of the Mold-A-Rama and the smell of plastic fills the air as the machine creates a spooktacular souvenir right before your eyes! The nostalgic, inexpensive, $3 mold is the perfect souvenir for adults and children to commemorate the Halloween Zoo festivities. The seasonal Halloween molds available now through Oct. 31 include:

  • GhostDevil
    Pick up this red devilish mold across from the Bongo and Duiker Exhibit
  • Ghost
    Pick up this ghostly white mold at the Polar Bear Exhibit
  • Frankenstein
    Pick up this spine-chilling purple Frankenstein bust at the Flamingo Café
  • Skull
    Pick up this eerie silver skull at the Cedar Crest Ice Cream Parlor in the Family Farm

Complete your Halloween collection when visiting the Zoo on Family Free Day, sponsored by North Shore Bank October 6 or Boo at the Zoo, sponsored by Prairie Farms Dairy, Oct. 12-13, and Halloween Spooktacular, sponsored by Prairie Farms Dairy, Oct. 19-20.

Joining the four seasonal molds is a new permanent brown otter mold, which can be found by the west wall in Primates of the World. Commemorate the opening of Otter Passage this year by creating your own otterly amazing otter mold!

First created in the 1950s, the Mold-A-Rama became popular in the 1960s debuting at the Seattle World’s Fair in 1962. The souvenir, which is molded in seconds, continues to enamor visitors of many popular tourist destinations. Today, Mold-A-Rama, one of two companies still constructing these molds, has about 60 machines in Chicago, St. Paul, Dearborn, Milwaukee and San Antonio.
