On May 17, zookeepers let our jaguar cubs, and mother Stella on outdoor exhibit for the first time! Within a couple of hours, they seemed comfortable with their new surroundings. Stella showed the cubs their pool, which will be slowly filled with water, and took on her role of protective mother. The cubs are growing fast, and each weighs approximately 56 pounds.
It's the Zoo's hope that the cubs will be on exhibit now for several hours each day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for the first two weeks. Then, they will alternate their time on outdoor exhibit (weather permitting) with father Pat. Visitors to the Zoo will be able to see the cubs on either indoor or outdoor exhibit.
To help our jaguar cubs stay active and healthy, check out these items they are requesting on their Enrichment Wish List.
