Milwaukee, WI – Join our big green party Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 at the Zoo’s “Party for the Planet,” sponsored by American Transmission Co. (ATC). The annual Earth Day celebration combines education and fun, while drawing attention to the need to save our precious resources for future generations.

- Learn about the Zoo’s Grand Cayman Island and Jamaica iguana conservation projects. Our experts will be on hand to discuss their fieldwork and the reasons why iguanas do not make good pets.
- TREE TOUR – New this year!
Our Zoo is set upon 200 acres wooded parkland. During Party for the Planet, guests can uniquely explore some of the varieties of trees in this urban forest. The self-guided tour includes more than 10 locations throughout the grounds of identifying tree markers to see and learn more about these trees.
- PLANT SALE
Visitors can learn to garden with native plants that support local wildlife. Native plants also attract butterflies and birds. Purchase a variety of plant species including Sky Blue Aster and Purple Coneflower. Supplies limited.
- ANIMAL PRESENTATIONS
Of course the Zoo’s animal collection is the backdrop for Party for the Planet, and presents yet another opportunity to learn how we can conserve many precious species. Big Cat and Rhino zookeepers discuss the animals in their care, and the ways you can help to make sure their wild counterparts are here for generations to come.
- CELL PHONE RECYCLING
Drop off your old cell phones for recycling. Receive a Top Trumps card game for donating a cell phone – one per person.
- GARLIC MUSTARD PULL-A-THON – Saturday ONLY, starting at 9:30 a.m.
Help us protect the Zoo's woodlands by pulling invasive garlic mustard. Garlic mustard crowds out native wildflowers and tree saplings.
Join us for these eco-friendly activities and learn that we can all contribute to helping sustain both a healthier environment and lifestyle!
