Senior Celebration

Who said the Zoo is just for kids? The Milwaukee County Zoo invites all seniors age 55+ to enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment on Friday, August 30 for Senior Celebration, sponsored by St. Camillus Life Plan Community. All seniors receive free admission (proof of age required) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to relive their favorite childhood memories, and make new ones.

In honor of Senior Celebration, the Zoo is offering engaging fun-filled activities for guests to participate in, including:

  • Health and Wellness Fair: Meet over 40 local organizations, all chosen with the needs of seniors in mind, in the Peck Welcome Center.
  • Dancing Demos: Yeehaw! Put on cowboy boots and a hat for an energized 15-minute line dancing demo led by the YMCA. 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

  • Fun Walk: Walking has never been more enjoyable! Join us at 10:30 a.m. for a 1-mile walk through the Zoo hosted by Wisconsin Senior Olympics. 
  • Complimentary cookies and ice cream: Stop by the Peck Welcome Center and Zoo Terrace to cure your sweet tooth!
  • Train Ride: Take a break from walking and see the grounds from a different perspective for a reduced price of $2!
  • Bingo: Bingo is fun for all ages! Let your competitive side out and see if you can win a game or two. 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Noon to 1 p.m.

Relive your favorite childhood memories by visiting the Milwaukee County Zoo. Make sure to say hello to some of our newest residents, including Iibu, the Baird’s tapir, in the South America habitat and two ostriches in Adventure Africa. You won’t want this day to end!
