A host of Halloween fun awaits visitors to the Milwaukee County Zoo’s “Boo at the Zoo,” sponsored by the Zoological Society, Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Here are some of the ghoulish activities scheduled for these eerie evenings:
- Join our Halloween Haystack Maze, creatively constructed with haystacks and Halloween characters! Purchase a sweet treat at the finish line as caramel apples are available for purchase courtesy of the Zoo’s American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) organization.
(Located in the Center of the Northwestern Mutual Family Farm)
- NEW THIS YEAR! Enjoy our glowing and hand-carved pumpkins in the outdoor Pumpkin Patch! Then, venture to see another group of illuminated pumpkins, as the creative display catches your eye against a backdrop of a musical, animated light show!
(Feline Mall – Pumpkin Patch)
(Wolf Woods Deck – Musical Illumination Show)
- Take a break and enjoy Halloween entertainment in the Zoo’s new U.S. Bank Gathering Place.

- Our majestic felines, including snow leopards and Amur tigers, will be your companions as you choose your favorite temporary tattoo to show-off! Tattoo designs include creepy cats, pretty pumpkins and a frightful Frankenstein!
(Located in the Florence Mila Borchert Big Cat Country)
- Take part in a colorful craft activity, and design a Halloween keepsake made with your very own ink thumbprints.
- Join in a batty presentation as zookeepers present a talk on our resident bat collection at the Zoo. You’ll learn that bats are a bit mysterious, and yet, play a very beneficial role in our natural world.
- A haunted adventure awaits as you hop aboard our Safari Train turned Ghost Train, for a spooky spin around the park!
- Don’t forget our favorite storybook characters, Harry and Fred, as they invite you to take part in yet another one of their spirited adventures! This Halloween, tag along with the pair as Harry embarks on a journey to become a wizard, and his buddy, Fred, encourages him to go to Wizard School! There’s always sure to be zany fun following these two, wherever their travels take them!
